Tampa, St. Pete fatal accidents overnight

TAMPA - Two people died on bay area roadways overnight.

The Tampa Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that killed a 20-year old-man.

Police say the accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Lockwood Ridge Way in Hunter's Green.

The driver apparently lost control of his car and hit a tree.  He was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

The identity of the driver has not been released.

On the other side of the bay, St Petersburg Police is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that happened just before 3:00 a.m.

Investigators say the driver of a 2010 Honda was headed east on Gandy Boulevard  approaching I-275 when she hit 46-year-old Steven Ponce.  Pounce was walking in the eastbound median lane of Gandy Boulevard.
Ponce died at the scene.  The driver has not been charged
