Tampa Police searching for serial armed robber

TAMPA - "He works quick, and it's the same guy," said Tampa Police Capt. Lee Bercaw.

Police are searching for a serial armed robber. They believe he's responsible for holding up a Papa John's Pizza at 9340 North Florida Avenue Monday night, as well as a Subway on East Fowler Avenue Monday night about 30 minutes after the Papa John's.

"One thing that alarms me is that when he goes into the robberies, he racks his gun. He hasn't shot it yet, but typically in these robberies, they escalate," said Capt. Bercaw.

Authorities are now connecting the same suspect seen in newly released surveillance video to a Wednesday night armed robbery of a Hungry Howie's pizza restaurant at 14916 N. Florida Ave.

Suspect description, as provided by Tampa police: Heavy set, black male, approximately 6'2", wearing black, long pants, a dark colored ski mask and a black, white and red flannel shirt in surveillance video.

Vehicle description, as provided by Tampa police: Newer model gray or silver Toyoto or Nissan SUV

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Call Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS with helpful information.
