TAMPA - Tampa Police believe Demetrius Park, 23, is the man responsible for gunning down a Family Dollar manager Sunday morning.
Horsely 'Junior' Shorter, 49, lost his life while trying to protect a co-worker.
The fatal robbery took place Sunday morning around 9:00 a.m.
Police say surveillance video of the suspect led to a citizen calling in a tip that helped identify Parks as a suspect. A warrant has been issued for Parks arrest, and there is a $16,000 reward for his capture.
Billboard companies CBS Outdoor and Clear Channel Outdoor have donated space, and the suspect's mug shot will appear on 30 digital billboards throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
Parks has an extensive criminal history. He served approximately three years in Florida State Prison for weapons charges. Since his release in March 2012, TPD says they have arrested Parks four times for burglary, grand theft, opposing an officer and felon in possession of a firearm.
Parks has faced 37 felony charges and 25 misdemeanor charges throughout his life.
"He is a career criminal who is a threat to our community," said Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor.
Castor said she needs the community's help capture Parks before he harms someone else. Police do believe he is armed and dangerous.
Police say Parks' family is not cooperating.
