TAMPA - Tampa city leaders voted late Thursday morning to take down red light cameras within the city limits.
The city council vote to end the contract on the cameras was 4-3. The contract expires in April.
A yes vote would have extended the contract.
At issue, where the revenue generated from the cameras goes.
City council members want some of the money to go to improving safety at the intersections where those cameras are located and not the city's general fund, which is the current policy.
ABC Action News reporter Carson Chambers will have a full report beginning at 5 p.m.
