Tampa area fast-food workers prepared to strike

TAMPA - Some Tampa area fast-food workers will walk off the job at 4:30 pm Thursday afternoon as part of a nationwide strike before the Labor Day holiday Monday.

We've seen similar rallies around the country this summer.  The Tampa event is put on by the West Central Florida Federation of Labor.

They say they are after "justice and equality" on the job.

Workers in 50 cities around the country are taking part. They are after $15 an hour and the right to form unions.

Supporters say low wages that fast-food workers earn are slowing the nation's recovery and negatively effecting the economy.

The Tampa rally will travel between five fast-food restaurants.
