Suspects identified in fatal south Tampa house fire

TAMPA - Tampa Police detectives are looking for suspects they say are connected to a Thursday morning fatal house fire.

A witness called 911 just before 2 a.m. Thursday and reported smoke and flames coming from 65-year-old Richard Lee Blackman's home at 6709 Interbay Boulevard.

Tampa Fire Rescue responded and found Blackman in the living room. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he died.

Officials say four suspects went to Blackman's home to rob him. They say the suspects attacked Blackman and stole items from the home before setting it on fire.

Detectives have obtained first degree murder arrest warrants for 34-year-old Kermit Lee Sanford and 19-year-old Tanner Blake Harrison. Both suspects have criminal records in Polk County.

Detectives are working on leads on the other two suspects.
