Suspect in revenge fatal shooting at Snack Attack Food Store turns self in, charged with murder

TAMPA - The suspect accused of killing 20-year-old Osh Williams for vengeance in a Tampa store parking lot last week has turned himself in, deputies say.

Rodney Dejontae Speights surrendered himself to authorities at the Orient Road Jail Thursday night.

Deputies responding to a shooting found Williams dead in the parking lot of the Snack Attack food store, located at 6825 50th Street in Hillsborough around 3:00 p.m. on March 24.

Officials say that right before the shooting, Speights told witnesses he planned to fight Williams for retribution following a fight with Williams the day before on March 23.

Surveillance video spotted Speights walking up to Williams and speaking to him.

Speights can then be seen shooting the victim several times with what detectives later determined was a .40 caliber semi automatic handgun.

Williams died at the scene.

Speights was later identified from witnesses from the surveillance footage.

The suspect fled the scene in unknown direction, possibly in a light blue Chevrolet Equinox.

Officials say Speights also had prior arrests, including charges for robbery by sudden snatching and grand theft of the third degree.

The suspect was charged with First Degree Murder after he turned himself in, deputies say.
