Tractor-trailer partially jumped guardrail on Selmon Expressway, westbound lanes reopened

TAMPA - UPDATE:  As of 5:30 p.m. all westbound lanes of the Selmon Expressway have been reopened.  The exit to Kennedy Blvd is also open, as are the entrance ramps to 21st and 22nd Streets.

Around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, a tractor trailer jumped the guardrail and collided with three light poles.  Once it finally stopped, the passenger-side front wheels were hanging over the rail.

According to officials, the flatbed tractor trailer, transporting bags of ready-mix concrete, was headed westbound on SR-618 approaching the downtown Tampa exit when the driver lost control.

The trailer collided with the guardrail at the apex of the exit ramp to Kennedy Boulevard, spilling portions of the
ready-mix concrete onto the road.

The driver, 45-year-old Mark Owen Pickard of Seffner, was treated at the scene.  He has been charged with Careless Driving.
