Hillsborough County deputies are investigating a shooting on Bloomingdale Avenue near South Kings Avenue  that appears to be the result of a road rage incident, authorities said.

According to officials, two vehicles were stopped in traffic when 27-year-old Kenneth Michael Cuevas got out of his car and walked back to the shooter's vehicle. Words were exchanged and shots were fired.

Cuevas was shot at least once and was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver accused of pulling the trigger waited for law enforcement to arrive at the scene. Authorities said he was being cooperative.

Deputies said it appeared the two individuals had an earlier road rage incident moments before the second incident that lead to the shooting.

Bloomingdale Ave. at Kings Ave. was shut down in both directions as deputies investigated and conducted interviews with witnesses.

The road reopened early Saturday.
