A 57-year-old woman was struck and killed by a stray bullet Thursday in Tampa Heights.

Detectives are now trying to track down information in the shooting, which they said resulted from a dispute among young people.

The shooting occurred about 9:45 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Street North and Columbus Drive East.

Maria J. Rivera-Contreras, 57, was in a vehicle with family members at the time, police said, delivering food to someone on Columbus Drive.

At the same time, a teenager riding a bicycle was involved in some type of dispute. Someone fired a gunshot at the teenager while he rode on Columbus Drive.

As the vehicle Rivera-Contreras rode in backed out to drive on Columbus Drive, a bullet hit her.

She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is now offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the unknown suspect(s) involved in the homicide of Maria J. Rivera-Contreras.
