Tampa police officers knocked on nearly 2,000 homes in southeast Seminole Heights.

MORE on the search for the Seminole Heights killer.

They surveyed the neighborhood, looking for clues after a killer or killers targeted three victims. Authorities said they have received more than 1,400 tips; they are following up on those leads. They are looking for a person of interest, but that person has not been identified yet.

“If it's been this long and nothing (has) happened, I doubt if anything more will happen. Hopefully it don’t, but you don’t know,” Jim Edson said.

Edson and his wife have lived in the neighborhood more than 40 years. Edson said officers knocked on his door twice, asking questions. Edson was surprised, but didn't mind it. Authorities said they may have revisited homes for a variety of reasons, including asking for video from a surveillance camera.

“They asked me what my name was. They asked me how old I was (and) when I was born. Do I have guns,” Edson said.

If anyone has any information about the investigation, they need to call the Tampa Police Department.

Authorities told ABC Action News at this point they do not plan on scaling back patrols in southeast Seminole Heights.
