Mask from 'Scream' movie appears twice at same bank

TAMPA - A bandit wearing a mask from the 'Scream' movies robbed Bay Cities Bank on Wednesday.  It's the same place where a similar mask was used in April.

Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office are trying to see if they are connected.

The robber went to the bank at 14877 Dale Mabry Hwy N. just before 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, jumped over the counter and demanded money from the teller.

After getting the money, the thief ran off to a black mid-size four-door vehicle.

He is described as a white man, 30 years old, who stands 6-feet tall and weighs between 190 and 210 lbs.  He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a dark blue hoodie jacket, light colored pants, white gloves, white sneakers and a mask similar to the movie "Scream."

On April 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., the same bank was robbed by a man in a dark blue hoodie, with his face covered by a similar mask.  He also ran into the bank, jumped over the counter, and demanded cash from a teller, then just grabbed cash from the teller's drawer.  He tried and failed to open another teller's drawer.

The man then jumped back over the counter, and ran from the bank to a white sedan with white tape over identifying information.

Deputies said he may have been carrying a small knife in his right hand.

Anyone with any information on either of these robberies should call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 247-8200.  Those who know the suspect and his whereabouts may be eligible for a reward.  Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at or text "CSTB plus your tip" to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637).
