A Temple Terrace Police Officer is on paid administrative leave after shooting an armed robbery suspect just after noon on Wednesday.

Officer Courtney Baldwin stopped a car off East Fowler Avenue and North 53rd Street for a traffic stop.

Investigators say 24-year-old Jordan Arthur Bowie, who was sitting in the backseat of that car, pulled a gun and shot at the officer as he walked back to his cruiser.

Officer Baldwin shot the suspect once in the right leg and Bowie was taken to Tampa General Hospital.

Investigators believe Bowie is responsible for an armed robbery Tuesday night around 11 in the parking lot of Bulls Discount Liquor which is located at 13406 North 56th Street.

They believe Bowie held two people inside a car at gunpoint and robbed them after making a purchase inside the liquor store.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Temple Terrace Police say Bowie could be linked to other armed robberies in the area.

He is charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
