Man charged with kidnapping, beating pregnant woman

TAMPA - A Tampa man kidnapped and repeatedly beat his pregnant ex-girlfriend over a 16 hour period, according to a release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Curtis Eugene Anderson, Jr., deputies say, forced the victim, who was six weeks pregnant, into his Cadillac on the afternoon of June 5. She was repeatedly hit while she was driven around for 30-40 minutes.

Anderson then took her to her apartment where he held her captive until around 7:45 the next morning.. During that time, he repeatedly struck her, according to the statement.

He eventually released her and she was taken to Tampa General Hospital.

A warrant for Anderson's arrest was obtained and deputies caught up with him on the afternoon of June 11. Anderson fled in his vehicle through a yard and almost struck a deputy.

He managed to escape, but detectives learned of his new location. When they caught up with him again, Anderson fled into some nearby woods and made his way into an occupied residence.  He was arrested there without incident

He's now charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant female, false imprisonment, kidnapping, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing to elude, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, burglary of an occupied dwelling and no valid driver's license.

Due to the nature of the crimes, the victim's name is being withheld.
