TAMPA - A vacant house caught fire for the second time in less than a week, Tampa fire marshals say.
Tampa Fire Rescue crews initially responded to a fire at 942 East 11 th Avenue Easter Sunday around 8:05 a.m. Upon arrival they found a mattress and clothes burning on the front porch.
The fire was quickly extinguished and it was determined that a homeless man living inside of the vacant home had started the fire.
Curry Pittman, 48, was arrested and charged with felony arson and remains in Hillsborough County Jail.
Saturday afternoon firefighters were once again dispatched to the same house, this time the structure was more involved.
The fire reportedly started on the outside of the building and spread to the attic.
A large smoke plume could be seen from interstate four as a result of the fire.
No injuries were reported, but the house was deemed a total loss.
Fire marshals are investigating the fire at this time. It is unclear if the fire was intentionally set.
