FT. MYERS, Fla. - Chuck and Alda Watlington's little boy was fighting for his life.
"Jesse is in God's hands," said Chuck, Jesse's father.
According to Tampa General Hospital, Jesse Watlington passed away Sunday.
Eleven-year-old Jesse was getting ready to take the field for football practice at his school, Southwest Florida Christian Academy, in Fort Myers on Wednesday, when he was struck by lightning.
When Jesse was struck, he had no pulse. His football coaches and a Ft. Myers police officer revived him with CPR and he was flown to Tampa General Hospital where he was in critical condition.
"He's a little boy who's never misbehaved in his entire life. He's the sweetest, quietest little kid. Everybody loves him, he's very popular at school, with his teachers, at church. He's just a sweet little boy," said Chuck Watlington
Jesse's family is asking for prayers. They say it is their faith that is guiding them through this.
