Fire breaks out at Tampa's La Teresita Plaza

TAMPA - A three-alarm fire broke at La Teresita Plaza shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Friday.  Flames and a huge column of smoke could seen from the location in the historic West Tampa area at 3302 West Columbus Drive.

There were no injuries.

Traffic on eastbound Columbus and northbound Lincoln was shut down.

The fire was declared under control around 12:45 p.m.

The blaze broke out when someone inside Bayside Scooter using a welder on a scooter ignited its gas tank.

The blaze then spread quickly.

An adjoining barbershop sustained smoke damage.

Some 60 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
