TAMPA - Prosecutors and defense attorneys for a Tampa woman accused of killing her two teenagers are getting more time to scrutinize the case.
Both sides have asked a judge for more time to make decisions in the case of Julie Schenecker. The 50-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder on Feb. 16. Schenecker is accused of fatally shooting her 13-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter on Jan. 28
Prosecutors want extra time to decide whether to seek the death penalty. Schenecker's attorneys want more time to determine whether they will use an insanity defense.
Schenecker is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail without bail.
