Detectives say inmate planned to pay for 'hit' on victim with Social Security

TAMPA -

Hillsborough County deputies say Demetreius Morris, already in Orient Road Jail, used hand-written notes to tell a witness he wanted a "hit" placed on a victim and the victim's daughter in a pending Tampa Police Department (TPD) case.

He wanted the "hit" completed before his court date, scheduled for May 8.

He advised he would pay for the "hit" with Social Security money he is scheduled to receive.

Morris was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
