While the lone adult was taking a shower, one of the three children there played with a lighter. The home was heavily damaged as a result of the fire.
Fire Rescue units responded to the fire at 1925 East Crenshaw just before 7:00 p.m. Friday.
The three small children and one adult female were able to get out unharmed.
After questioning them, Tampa Fire Marshal Investigator Chris Stone determined that one of the three children was playing with a lighter while the adult was in the shower.
One other adult female who also lives in home was not at home.
The Red Cross will help with housing for the family of five.
No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
