Bollywood awards special for one Tampa designer

TAMPA - The upcoming Bollywood awards has instilled high hopes in one bay area woman.

"I just want to show people how beautiful India is," said Indian-fusion fashion designer Sumita Bhojwani. She got her start in fashion design in India and has lived in the United States since 1997.
In recent weeks, Bhojwani launched her new clothing line online and from her Tampa home. "It's a big thing for me," she said.

Beading, embroidery and bold colors are staples of her pieces. Some of them are inspired by this year's International Indian Film Academy Awards being held in Tampa.
Local stylist Tamy Lugo is working with Bhojwani to dress several guests of IIFA events.
"So they'll do pastels like the spring trends, but they'll also do bright jewel tones and maybe even a little neon. Go all out, celebrate, enjoy the culture and wear it," Lugo suggested for anyone attending the free events leading up to the green carpet awards show Saturday evening.

Bhojwani is hoping her looks this year on the green carpet catch just the right eye for next year's celebration. "I'd love if some Bollywood actress would wear my design. It would be my dream come true," said Bhojwani.
