Authorities say an Allegiant Air flight made an emergency landing at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport after a flight attendant was injured during turbulence.
The flight was en route from Fort Lauderdale to Asheville, North Carolina, on Monday when a flight attendant suffered head injuries during the turbulence. One passenger was also hurt. Both were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. One passenger was also treated at the scene for minor lacerations.
Airport Operations Manager Lloyd Tillmann told the Tampa Bay Times the 147 passengers on board were taken off the plane while arrangements were made for another flight to North Carolina.
Passengers were expected to leave Clearwater on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. on a different plane.
The plane that experienced the turbulence will be taken out of service until a full inspection is completed.
