TAMPA - With the Republican National Convention quickly approaching, the host committee is recruiting volunteers with full force.
All in all, approximately 7,500 volunteers are needed. Currently, the host committee reports that it's 65 percent of the way there.
The 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee will recruit, train and manage thousands of volunteers to be the faces of Tampa Bay during the week of the 2012 Republican National Convention. Volunteers will welcome guests at local airports and hotels throughout the area, as well as support Host Committee programs and a variety of events during the year leading up to the convention.
At the time of registration, volunteers will select a one-hour orientation session specific to their volunteer type, but will not select specific shifts. Volunteers will select a time frame and dates, but will not commit to a specific shift until after they are instructed how to do so at Volunteer Orientation in summer 2012. At orientation, all volunteers will be instructed to sign up for at least two (2) four-hour volunteer shifts. All volunteers will be issued an official Host Committee uniform to wear during their volunteer service. Following the convention, all volunteers will be invited to a celebratory event.
