Worker crushed in St. Petersburg while cleaning sanitation truck

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Investigators are working to figure out exactly how a man ended up being crushed at the City of St. Petersburg Sanitation Compound Monday morning.
According to St. Petersburg Police, a maintenance worker was cleaning out a sanitation truck which had its rear hydraulic door open.
The driver of the truck was sitting in the cab and thought the maintenance worker had stepped clear of the door. He engaged the hydraulic mechanism to close it, but the maintenance worker was still standing at the rear of the truck. The worker suffered severe upper body trauma as the door closed.
A short time later, the victim was flown to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have removed the sanitation truck from the scene.
The victim has be has identified as 70-year-old Xuan Van Ho. He is listed in critical condition.
