St. Pete police: Puppy snatcher caught on video

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Police are looking for the man who snatched a puppy from a St. Petersburg pet store. A camera captured the crime.

The suspect entered the Animal House Pet center at 950 34th Street North on February 26 around 2 p.m.

He loitered for about 15 minutes before taking the puppy from a holding area.

The puppy, worth hundreds of dollars, was an unnamed, 10 week old, 2 pound gray female Chihuahua with tan paws.

A customer was a witness as the man put the dog in a backpack and quickly left the store.

The assistant manager then called police.

The suspect is in his early 20's, 6'1", slender build, with "big crossed eyes." He was wearing a red shirt, black pants, red shoes, and carrying a black backpack.
