ST. PETERSBURG - This weekend, the Northeast Exchange Club's Ribfest, presented by Bright House Networks Business Solutions will fill Vinoy Park on the downtown waterfront.
There will be (of course) lots of ribs, music, a family fun zone, and the new Ribfest Marketplace, all for some great causes.
Ribfest marks its 23rd year of helping a variety of youth-oriented causes "one rib at a time".
This fun-filled three day charity fundraiser features the best barbeque ribs in the world, national touring artists playing classic and southern rock and country hits.
One of the big musical acts is the legendary Heart - and you can read Tampa Bay Times contributor Sean Daly's write-up Ann and Nancy Wilson's book 'Kicking and Dreaming' here.
Over the years, Ribfest proceeds have contributed $3.5 million to causes including All Children's Hospital, child abuse prevention centers and organizations, Northeast Exchange Club service projects, and installing Freedom Shrines in local schools and public buildings.
Gates open at 11 a.m. daily with no re-entry. For more information, please visit the Ribfest website at http://www.ribfest.org/ .
