Power outage in downtown St. Petersburg leaves 4,000 in the dark

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - According to Duke Energy, about 4,000 customers in the downtown area of St. Petersburg are experiencing a power outage.

Several traffic signals are out in the area, including the traffic light at 4th Avenue North and 4th Street North where St. Petersburg Police are working a traffic crash where a vehicle hit a pole.

Officers are checking the area north of the downtown regarding reports of other traffic lights that may be out.

The cause of the power outage is unknown at this time.
