St. Pete Police Department is looking for a man caught on surveillance video robbing a 96-year-old retired pastor.
"I was frightened," victim Vibert White said.
It happened at the Chevron at 48th and Central. Surveillance video shows the suspect approaching the White with an offer to help him pump gas.
He goes into White's shirt and pants pocket as he tried to enter the store and again when he was trying to leave.
Authorities say the man continued to forcibly go into the victim's pockets as he tried to pump gas, and got away with the 96-year-old's cash.
“For someone to just think it’s ok to attack someone that’s 96-years-old for $30, it’s ridiculous. And it’s troublesome," White's grandson, Sherman Joseph, said.
White was recently discharged from the hospital after suffering a stroke. White told the robber about his health issues, but the man continued to rough him up.
“It shows that he doesn't have any value of life, or someone else’s private property," said Joseph.
White only lost a few bucks, but hopes police find the robber before someone else gets hurt.
“I’d tell him I’m sorry for him," White said. "I wish he could learn a lesson.”
