Pinellas Trail robbery suspect arrested in Georgia

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A man who police say attacked and robbed a man and woman on the Pinellas Trail on February 1 is under arrest.

Investigators say they recently learned that the suspect, Germaine Small, 17, may be staying at the home of a relative in Lithonia, Georgia.

U.S. Marshals went to the home Thursday morning and found Small hiding in the attic.

He was jailed and is now awaiting extradition to Pinellas County.

Detectives say Small and an accomplice attacked and robbed at gunpoint a man and woman who were riding along the Pinellas Trail near 8th Avenue South.

During the robbery, police say, Small hit the woman in the face with the butt of his gun and knocked out several of her teeth.

The two suspects took off with the victims' personal belongings and their bicycles.

Small has prior arrests for residential burglary and auto theft.

Police have not said who the accomplice may be.
