Mayor-Elect Rick Kriseman swearing-in ceremony details released

The ceremony will be held outside city hall

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The city of St. Petersburg will have a brand new mayor on Thursday, Jan. 2 when Mayor-elect Rick Kriseman takes the oath of office.  Details for his swearing-in ceremony were released Friday.

The festivities are expected to start around 12:45 p.m. and will be held on the front steps of St. Petersburg City Hall located at 175 Fifth St. N..

According to the city's new communications director, Ben Kirby, the Master of Ceremonies will be Bob Devin Jones, co-founder of Studio620 and the invocation will be lead by Rabbi Michael Torop of Temple Beth-el.

The St. Petersburg Community Choir, which is comprised of members of the First United Methodist Church and Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary baptist Church, will sing.

The Honorable Judge Thomas Ramsberger will administer the oath of office. After  the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Kriseman will address the crowd.

Kirby says the streets near city hall will be closed from 7 a.m. until about 1 p.m. or 2 p.m.  Local traffic will be allowed to access their parking garages and spaces for nearby buildings, including the county courthouse and state building.
