Major crash shuts down northbound I-275 in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A serious crash involving a moving truck and several vehicles shut down northbound I-275 at MLK around 7:30 this morning. Lanes reopened shortly after 9 a.m.

Initial reports indicated that five people were injured. At least one person had to be extricated.

The shutdown included the MLK on-ramp.

Hundreds of cars were stuck between Roosevelt and MLK.  Northbound traffic was being forced off the Interstate at Roosevelt.

Motorists were advised to exit northbound 275 at Gandy or before.    

No other information on the crash victims was provided.
