Sure he won the Indy 500 three times. He’s also won countless other races, including the 2012 Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
But more people might remember Helio Castroneves best for what he did on a dance floor, not a race track.
More than six years have passed since he tangoed and cha-cha’d his way to victory on Dancing with the Stars, but he still hears from fans about winning the mirror-ball trophy.
“I still have some moves, but I love it," he said.
On the track, Castroneves has earned the nickname Spiderman for the way he celebrates victories by climbing the fence alongside the track. That included an emotional climb in St. Petersburg after he won two years ago, paying respects to driver Dan Wheldon, who was killed the prior season.
Castroneves' made his first climb after his first victory.
"I was so happy I won the race. I was supposed to go to the pits, and I made a mistake. But it turned out to be a great way of celebrating. To this day it's an awesome feeling," Castroneves said.
