Free Christmas tree pickup and mulch in St. Petersburg locations

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Sanitation crews are providing free pickup today of Christmas trees in the city of St. Petersburg.

Residents can also drop off their tree at one of the city's five brush sites to be recycled into mulch. The mulch is also free for residents to pick up, but bring your own shovel and container.

Here are the locations of the five brush sites:

1000 62nd Avenue NE            

4015 Dr. ML King Jr. St. South (9th St.)

7750 26th Avenue North            

2453 20th Avenue North

2500 26th Avenue South

They are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

If you live in a home and want crews to pick up the tree, place it no closer than three feet from your garbage container. Residents of large apartment complexes should call commercial sanitation at 727-893-7351 to schedule a crew for pickup.

Smaller apartment complex residents can put the trees by the dumpsters for pickup on regular collection days.

If you tree is not picked up on the designated day you can call 727-893-7398 and press 4 after January 7.
