Group uses metal detectors to find lost wedding rings

Allison Marbet's week was ruined when she lost her prized pendant in the water off St. Pete Beach.  She said she watched with horror as it started to sink.

"I really didn't think I would get it back," said Marbet.  It's from my grandfather so it means a lot to me cause he is no longer with us."

She contacted the folks at Suncoast Research & Recovery Club.  They dove the area where she lost her jewelry and they were successfully able to return the item back to Marbet.

"We are a metal detecting club, that's what we do," said Tom Jones.

Group members said they have returned more than 100 wedding rings to people since 2014.

"We want people to know that we are that and willing to help," said Jones.

The group offers their services for free, but they are always willing to accept a small club donation.
