Help for struggling families with high school girls for prom

She can be the "Belle of the Ball"

SEMINOLE, Fla. - It's one of the highlights of high school: prom season. But for girls from low-income families, a beautiful prom dress is sometimes out of reach.

Two non-profit organizations have joined forces to help needy teen girls out during prom season, providing dresses, shoes, purses, and accessories to in-need, low-income high school girls in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.

Since 2003, the Belle of the Ball project has given away thousands of dresses to needy girls. Hillsborough County's Dream a Dress partnered with them in 2008, and they now offer dresses to teens in the entire Bay area from a 4,000 sq. ft. store with over 1,500 dresses to choose from.

Their mission is make sure no teen girl is denied the chance to go to her high school dance because of financial difficulties.

The dresses, shoes and accessories will be available on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Dates of distributions: March 12, 26, April 2, 9, 30, and May 7, 2011.

Location: 11201 Park Blvd. N., Seminole, Fla., at Seminole Mall next to Ross Department Store.
