Man dead in stolen motorcycle crash in Pinellas Park

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - A man was killed just before midnight Thursday in a motorcycle crash near 78th Avenue North and 59th Street North in Pinellas Park.

According to the Pinellas Park police department, an officer in his patrol car saw a motorcycle approaching at a high rate of speed.  The officer turned on his overhead lights and began a u-turn to pull the cyclist over.

The cyclist accelerated quickly, and the officer gave up the chase immediately.  The Pinellas Park Police Department has a no-chase policy on motorcycles.

However, the cyclist went over train tracks and lost control, hitting a street sign and a parked car.

Richard Golden, 31, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The motorcycle Golden was riding, a 2002 Honda CBR 1000, was reported stolen on October 22.
