RIVERVIEW, Fla. - A Ruskin man faces a manslaughter charge after running into a motorcyclist, then leaving him to die in an overnight hit and run in Riverview.
After fleeing the scene, the suspect, 33-year-old John Clinton Butler, returned two hours later.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Balm Riverview Road and US 301 11:30 p.m Wednesday.
The motorcyclist was sitting at the traffic light on US 301 southbound, waiting for the signal to change when a white pickup, driven by Butler, slammed into his back.
The impact caused the motorcycle to pushed through the intersection along with Butler's vehicle and both of them crashed into a black pickup truck facing northbound on US 301.
The motorcyclist, 30-year-old Heiner Estrada of Wimauma, died.
The driver of the black pickup was not injured.
Butler fled the scene on foot and the intersection was shut down for an extensive investigation.
However, Butler returned to the scene two hours later. Officials confirm alcohol was involved and Butler was arrested for DUI manslaughter and Driving with a suspended license.
Butler was previously arrested in December 2006 on a felony charge of Driving while License revoked, and is said to be a habitual offender.
In January 2008, he was sentenced to 13 months in prison.
The investigation is ongoing.
