Sarasota FBI investigating two suspicious incidents

SARASOTA - Investigators are looking into two incidents in Sarasota. One involved left an unknown substance at a LensCrafters. The second involved a a letter received at Plaza Five Points with the letters 'TNT' on it.
The Westfield Southgate Shopping Center in Sarasota was closed just before noon Tuesday after someone walked into the LensCrafters store, threw an unknown substance and immediately left the area.
Hazardous material teams from Sarasota County Fire Department went into the store to sample the substance.
Investigators determined the material was not harmful and the mall was reopened. A search for suspects was underway.
Later, just before 2 p.m., workers inside the Plaza Five Points at 50 North Central received a suspicious envelope. It had a pumpkin and the words "TNT" and "kaboom" written on it. No one was hurt.
The return address was Plaza Five Points. No one was being allowed in or out of the building.
The Sarasota Police Department and Sarasota Fire Department are working to remove the letter from the lobby to a secure location.
The FBI is investigating both incidents. At this time, there is no evidence that the two incidents are related.
