A woman is upset after, she claims, a restaurant in Sarasota kicked her and her family out for 'eating too many crab legs' at the advertised all-you-can-eat buffet.
Tracy Clarenson was at the Oriental Buffet off of Bee Ridge Road on Sunday night to celebrate her son's 7th birthday. It's his favorite place to eat.
She claims another son, William, 11, was approached by an employee.
"We were actually finishing up with our meal, toward the end of the meal and my son came back and told me that he was told he couldn't have any more crab legs because he ate too many," said Tracy. "I was shocked that they said he ate too many crab legs," she continued.
She was surprised because the restaurant is advertised as an all-you-can-eat buffet.
"We explained to her there were seven people at the table. Three of us were eating crab legs and my 11-year-old was going up and getting them for us," Tracy told us. "She told us, 'That's all you eat, you don't get any more, get out if you don't like it,'" she said.
Hayden has mild autism, and still doesn't understand what happened. "He was upset again this morning and said, 'Mommy, can we go back,' and I said, 'I don't think so, honey.' He kept asking what was too many, why did William eat too many. He didn't understand."
We tried to contact management and owners of the Oriental Buffet restaurant, but no one ever returned our messages.
As for Tracy, she has decided she will not be visiting the buffet again.
"Obviously, 'all-you-can-eat buffet' was not correct. I'm upset that my 7-year-old son's birthday is ruined, and that she confronted my 11-year-old and told him that he couldn't have more of something that they advertise that they have," she said.
