Sarasota Police are asking for help in identifying a robbery suspect seen in ATM surveillance photos

SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a robbery suspect seen in ATM surveillance photos.

The victim told detectives the suspect confronted him on May 3 around 8:00 p.m. as he was leaving Legends Pub at 1816 South Osprey Avenue in Sarasota.

The suspect was brandishing a knife and threatened to stab the victim if he did not hand over his wallet.

The victim says he gave the suspect, who he describes as a white man in his late 30s, his wallet. After getting the wallet, the victim says the robber jumped into a black vehicle and drove away.

The victim told detectives he was not originally going to report the robbery because he was not hurt. However, he changed his mind and decided to file a police report on May 6 after discovering the suspect stole $400 from his bank account through an ATM in Sarasota.

Detectives were able to recover surveillance photos of the suspect and hope someone in the community will recognize him.

If you know who the man may be, you are encouraged to call Sarasota Detective Tony DeFrancisco at (941) 954-7049 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling (941) 366-8477.
