Drunk dentist hits woman, Sarasota officer with car

She has non-life-threatening injuries

SARASOTA - A Sarasota Police Department officer was injured Friday when a driver rammed her at the Sarasota Yacht Club, authorities said.

Baltasar Jimenez, who police said drove the vehicle, has been charged with a DUI involving personal injury and property damage.

The officer was struck about 9 p.m. while working an off-duty detail at the Sarasota Yacht Club at 1100 John Ringling Blvd., authorities said.

A woman ran up to her and another officer saying she had been grazed by a vehicle.

The officer who was injured tried to stop the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver accelerated, authorities said.

The vehicle struck the officer, throwing her onto the hood.

The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Sarasota Jail information Jimenez is a dentist.
