Registered sex offender, Brian Lacy, accused of raping 14-year-old in Sarasota, suspect at large

SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota County officials are searching for a registered sex offender who lured a 14-year-old girl into his apartment and raped her, according to an affidavit.

Officials say that 32-year-old Brian Lacy had been staying at an apartment at 2522 Mango Ave.  for months and never updated his address with the local sheriff's office, something sex offenders are required to do within 48 hours of an address change.

On Wednesday, a detective went to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in response to a report of a 14-year-old sexual battery victim.

The victim told the detective she was forced to sleep with Lacy, known to her as Lil' B.

She said that a week ago, she was walking to school in the morning and cut through the neighboring yards between the houses.

As she walked by the apartment Lacy was staying in, she said Lacy called her over. He said he had something to give her for her grandmother.

According to the affidavit, Lacy had a Ziploc type of plastic bag to give the teen, but he took it and placed it in the drawer. He then took out another bag to give the victim, but she didn't know what was in the bag and she refused to take it.

The victim then attempted to leave Lacy's home, but the suspect stood in front of the door. The teen said she needed to leave for school, but Lacy asked her to stay and "chill out" with him. She tried to leave again, but she was pulled away.

The teen went near the bed and took off her bag, which became tighter when Lacy grabbed her.

The teen then said she was pushed backward onto the bed, and Lacy removed her tights and underwear. The suspect then took of his pants and sexually assaulted her.

The victim tried to get up, but she couldn't, because the suspect was much bigger than her. After the assault, about 20 minutes, he told her not to tell anyone.

She got dressed and left. Once the teen told her mother, the mother went to Lacy's home and confronted him.

Lacy reportedly asked the mother what the victim told her about him. Then the mother said Lacy immediately left the neighborhood.

Lacy has convictions in Florida for Lewd or Lascivious Battery on a Child on Child 12 – 15, and impregnating a minor.

Lacy now faces charges of Lewd or Lascivious Battery on a Child Older than 12 but Less than 16.

"This is a man who runs afoul of the law. Obviously there is no sanction that keeps him in line so he needs to be behind bars," said Sarasota County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Wendy Rose.

During their investigation, detectives found that Lacy reported his address as 1678 36th Street in Sarasota, but they determined he had been living at 2522 Mango Avenue since February 2013.
