Man pulls knife on woman on Sarasota bus

SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota police arrested a man they say pulled a knife on a woman riding the bus earlier this month.

Albert Junior Singletary, 31, of 2828 Suncrest Drive, Sarasota, is charged with felony aggravated assault. He was arrested on Tuesday, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The victim told detectives she was riding a SCAT bus to work when Singletary came and sat near her on the bus. During the ride, Singletary attempted to engage the victim in conversation, however she tried to ignore him.

Singletary asked for the victim's name and she gave it. The victim said Singletary began to repeat her name incessantly. The victim told detectives Singletary asked for her phone number and she refused to give it.

The victim said Singletary got up from his seat and with his back to the front of the bus, removed his back flip phone, wallet and a light blue or silver box cutter knife from his pocket. She said Singletary opened the knife to reveal the blade, brandished the knife and then closed and put it away. She then got off the bus.

Previous arrest photographs of Singletary were compared to video surveillance (watch below). Additionally, phone records indicate the phone number placed to the victim's phone is registered to Junior Albert.
