11-time felon Quinton Davis arrested in Sarasota after police find a loaded handgun in his waistband

SARASOTA, Fla. - Sarasota Police arrest an 11-time felon for concealing a loaded handgun in his waistband.

Officers went looking for 26-year-old Quinton Davis for a probation violation. After discovering what they believed to be Davis' Hyundai parked at a house on Desoto Place, officers began surveying the area.

Within a few minutes, police saw a man exit the house and walk out to the Hyundai. After seeing a patrol car driving up the street, police say that man began walking back towards the house.

At that point, one of the officers ran across the street and was able to confirm the man was indeed Davis. The officer, believing Davis could be armed, ran up and wrapped his arms around Davis and tackled him to the ground.

While searching Davis, officers found a .40 caliber Glock pistol in his waistband. The gun was loaded with eight bullets, including one in its chamber.

Officers also found a black ski-mask lying on the ground next to Davis.  In the arrest report, Sarasota Police note Davis was wearing a black pants and black shirt, attire that is consistent with robbery suspects.

Davis, who is currently on probation for the sale of cocaine, has 11 previous felony convictions. He was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon and Violation of Probation.

The Sarasota Police Department is proud of the job the officers did in arresting Davis without anyone getting hurt.

"Our officers are doing an outstanding job in identifying individuals who are utilizing firearms while committing crimes," said Sarasota Police Deputy Chief Steve Moyer. "The effort by all our officers working the streets both day and night is a continuation to work to protect the residents and visitors of the City of Sarasota."
