SARASOTA, Fla. - Orange paint marks the road where Donna Chen's life came to an end.
"I just said a little prayer for the family," said Rod Connely.
Rod Connely didn't know 53- year-old Chen and didn't see her the day she died, but often saw her jogging in the neighborhood.
It is a painful scene for Connely and apparently painful for Blake Talman too.
Talman, dressed in orange and holding back tears is accused of running over Chen Saturday while troopers say he was driving drunk.
"This victim is a result of a serious crime," said Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Chris Miller.
Miller said it was 1:00 p.m. and Talman was driving on State Road 758 on Siesta Key.
Miller said Talman had just rear ended a car and instead of stopping, he took off, speeding.
FHP said at the same time Talman went around a bend, Donna Chen was jogging with her dog.
Talman hit Chen, lost control and stopped after hitting a nearby telephone pole. "By leaving the scene he eventually led to the death of an innocent bystander," Miller said.
Talman's attorney begged the judge to release his client on bond.
"He has a child on the way due in about two months," said AnneMarie Rizzo.
Judge David Denkin set Talman's bail at $121,000.
Talman faces numerous charges including DUI Manslaughter.
