Robots deployed as red tide looms off coast of Florida

SARASOTA - A large bloom of algae known as red tide is hovering in the Gulf of Mexico about 40 miles off the coast of Hernando and Pasco counties.

Researchers are trying to predict its movements to see if it will hit beaches in the Tampa Bay area. Their tool: Waldo and Bass, a pair of underwater robots. Watch the story above to see how they're helping researcher understand what's happening with the bloom.
