Juvenile detention worker accused of sexually assaulting two boys he was supposed to be supervising

PALMETTO, Fla. - An employee who supervised troubled kids at a juvenile detention center is accused of sexually assaulting two of them at the facility.

Deputies with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office arrested Leroy Bostic, Jr. on Tuesday.

He worked for G4S, the contractor that ran the Palmetto Youth Academy.

Investigators said they started investigating Bostic last week when two boys at the center, ages 15 and 17, told detectives Bostic sexually assaulted them.

"I don't believe it until someone proves to me that it happened," said Leroy Bostic, Sr., the suspect's father who has the same name.

He told ABC Action News that his son has worked around kids for the last 15 years.

He also questions the source of the allegations

"Can you trust them? I mean why are they in there? If you can trust them, they wouldn't be in there," he said. "All I know is that's what he's been doing all his life and never has he had any complaints."

It's unclear what other evidence the sheriff's office has, but the state attorney's office felt there was enough to press charges.

Bostic faces charges of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious molestation, and introduction of harmful material to a minor.

A spokesperson for G4S released the following statement.

"The safety and security of the youth entrusted to our care is our top priority. As a condition of employment, all G4S Youth Services employees are expected to comply with local, state or federal laws or ordinances as well as G4S codes of conduct."

The statement went on to say Bostic was hired based on his experience and ability to pass a background check. The company fired him on Monday.

G4S is the largest operator of youth detention centers in the state and is no stranger to trouble itself.

The ABC Action News I-Team recently uncovered dozens incidents involving G4S employees arrested in Tampa Bay.

A recent arrested involved Viviana Hernandez Trejo, who's accused of exchanging sexual favors with a  teen boy at Riverside Academy.

In 2012, a counselor was fired for a relationship with a child at the same facility.

One of the biggest headlines involves dozens of troubled boys rioting at the facility in Avon Park, which G4S privately runs.
