A mother and daughter were arrested together in an alleged crime one investigator called "shocking."
North Port Police Department said the arrests really came by accident.
Detectives said that as they were catching a woman in the act of trying to exploit a minor, they learned her own mother was helping.
Craitoija Hall, 23, of Sarasota entered a North Port home expecting to see a 14-year-old client who would pay her $400 for sex, police said.
"That case was very unique where one of our undercover detectives, [pretending online] to be a 14-year-old boy looking to have sex in exchange for money," said Capt. Chris Morales of the North Port Police Department.
Morales said Hall was responding to an internet-based ad.
"When she did arrive [to the North Port home]," said Morales, "she'd come in a vehicle her mother had drove to the residence."
Police said that the mother, Tawana Holmes of Sarasota, was aware of the arrangement.
Both Hall and Holmes are charged with prostitution, attempted battery of a minor and traveling to lure a minor for sex.
The sting is part of a larger police program called Operation Guardian Angel.
