Men with same name arrested in Bradenton triple shooting

BRADENTON, Fla. - Two men sharing the same name have been arrested in connection to a triple shooting near the DeSoto Square Mall.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, it happened Saturday around 3:30 a.m.

The victims were reportedly in a car traveling north on 1st Street, passing the mall, when another vehicle came up behind them.

As they turned onto 301 Boulevard East, investigators say someone began shooting at their car - hitting the victims in various locations on their bodies.

Detectives say the victims are Johnny Yarn, 20, Davell Kendricks, 19, and Rashard Waiters, 21. The trio was able to drive to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment, and all are expected to survive.

During the course of the investigation, witnesses identified one of the suspects as 24-year-old Tarvin L. Martin.  His vehicle was reportedly tracked to the 1700 block of 26th Avenue E.

When marked units attempted to stop the vehicle - Martin fled the scene, and about five blocks further - both the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle.

A short distance later, both individuals were apprehended by deputies.

It was then discovered that the 20-year-old passenger was also named Tarvin L. Martin - with the middle name of "Lenard."

The slightly older Tarvin Martin, 24, was identified by investigators as one of the suspects who committed the shooting and was subsequently charged with Attempted Murder. He was also charged with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude and Resisting Arrest. He also had three existing warrants for Aggravated Assault w/firearm from a previous incident not related to the shooting.

Tarvin Lenard Martin, 20, faces charges including Possession of a Firearm and Obstruction.

Officials have not stated whether or not the two are related.
