Manatee coach charged with battery

BRADENTON, Fla. - A Manatee High School assistant football is facing charges of first-degree misdemeanor battery following allegations of misconduct involving female students and others.

Roderick Frazier, 35, is accused of inappropriately touching five students, a teacher and a guidance counselor, according to Bradenton.com, which reports Frazier was placed on administrative leave while a decision is made on how to move forward.

In a statement, Manatee County School Superintendent wrote, "Mr. Frazier has been charged with misdemeanors involving district students and staff and the Manatee District takes these charges extremely seriously.

However, the district clearly acknowledges the fact that Mr. Frazier is innocent until proven guilty and we ask the community to reserve judgment until the legal charges are resolved."

Mills was expected to answer questions from reporters Monday afternoon.

Reporter Alison Morrow will have a full report later today on ABC Action News.
